Environmental Datasets Director

As the director of environmental datasets, Maria helps with The Greenook project, which is an online database that tracks the many actors in the environmental sector. The purpose of this online tool is to advance environmental cooperation, education, and outreach by making organization information easily accessible.  

Maria is a doctoral candidate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) in the department of political science. Her specializations include transnational water networks, international relations, comparative politics, and human rights. Maria has taught several courses at UNL that include topics such as international human rights, public policy, the United Nations, globalization and international law. She is her department’s 2018 nominee for the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools Excellence in Teaching Award. Maria previously received her M.A. from The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs.      

Maria enjoys spending time with her husband and two children. Their family likes to play tennis, have spontaneous dance parties, build with Legos, and learn facts about strange animals. For example, her kids can now tell you almost every detail about the infamous box jellyfish. Maria also enjoys traveling abroad.
